le port donne sur la rivière la Seudre, rivière qui sépare les communes de Marennes et de la Tremblade.

Formée par la confrontation des courants de l’océan et ceux de la Gironde, la baie de Bonne Anse offre de beaux paysages de bancs de sable. La célèbre Côte Sauvage, et la pointe de la Coubre sont ses plus proches voisins.

En fait c’est un ancien viaduc partiel, datant de 1938, qui permettait de s’avancer pour la traversée en bac

Brouage, a very well surrounded city

Ancien port de commerce au XIVème siècle, puis port militaire, Brouage est une ville entourée de fortifications qui en assurait sa défense. Son premier nom était Jacopolis sur Brouage. Dès le XVIIème siècle la ville a perdu son activité du fait de la baisse du niveau de la mer, au profit de Rochefort, très proche. de nos jours la ville fortifiée est entourée de marais.
Old commercial harbour in the XIVth century, then naval base, Brouage is a city surrounded with fortifications which assured his defense. The first name was Jacopolis on Brouage. From the XVIIth century the city lost its activity because of the reduction in the sea level, for the benefit of Rochefort, very close. Nowadays the fortified city is surrounded with swamp.

La photo n’a pas été prise à Hauteville House dans l’île anglo Normande de Guernesey, là ou Victor Hugo à écrit le roman « Travailleurs de la mer », mais en Charente Maritime à Marennes haut lieu de l’ostréiculture.
Les siècles ont passés depuis Victor Hugo mais le travail est resté aussi pénible pour ces travailleurs de la mer.
The photo was not taken in Hauteville House on the Norman English island of Guernsey, there or Victor Hugo to paper the novel » Workers of the sea « , but in Charente-Maritime in Marennes specialized of the oyster farming.

Fishing with carrelet in Charente Maritime

Le carrelet est un grand filet de pêche carré tendu sur une armature et descendu au moyen d’un treuil, depuis un ponton sur lequel est généralement construite une cabane de pêcheur, cette pêche est très répandue en Charente Maritime.
